WORKOUT FOR THE SOULKeys To Your Progress by Chrissie Blaze |

As a reader of phenomeNEWS I suspect you are a seeker; a person delving deeply into the mysteries of life, while dealing with the constant challenges this brings. Bravo, braveheart, the way is stony, the pace is fast, but remember, the journey is the goal! The urge to understand the meaning of life was strong within me for as long as I can remember. Even as a small child I remember wondering why people made strange cooing noises at me, instead of talking normally! I did not fit into regular childhood patterns, nor did I want to. I was a difficult, strong-willed child and later regretted the problems I caused my wonderful, understanding parents. I was certainly not unique, just a seeker trying to find my way back home. I desperately wanted to become magical, wise and enlightened and dreamed of myself flying around like a 1950s girl version of Harry Potter. What held me back was not my lack of desire, but my strange and imaginative fears and anxieties. I worried that if I attained higher states of consciousness and entered unknown bliss states, I would have to surrender my personality and love of life. I lacked the courage to express my insights and to allow my light to shine. I was anxious that friends would think me odd and shun me; although I longed to fly, I also longed to fit in. There are many strange and wonderful fears that face the seeker, until experiences or people help to move us from the darkness to the light. I was fortunate to meet an enlightened spiritual Master, Dr. George King in my early twenties. I would like to share a little about this remarkable man who left this world in 1997, in the hopes that he may inspire you to overcome your fears, as he continues to inspire me. Dr. King had attained self-mastery and devoted his entire life to sharing the riches of his inner journey. Although he achieved great states of bliss many hundreds of times, he retained his unique, diverse and fascinating personality. Indeed, he was one of the most alive, vital and fascinating people I have ever met. Just to be around him made life sparkle and shine. Even as a boy he had the courage to think thoughts on a grand scale. As he grew older, he trod the uncharted path of inspiration and noble vision, irrespective of what others thought of him. This despite the fact that he was a highly sensitive man, profoundly moved by the plight of humanity and the Mother Earth upon whom we live. Despite the caliber of his amazing discoveries and achievements and his own advanced teachings about life and the cosmos, he remained accessible. Although completely unique and ahead of his time, he could always fit in. He was a humanitarian who enjoyed the company of all types of people and was fully alive to everything and everyone around him. He was a humorist with a delightful sense of humor who loved to entertain. He was a lover of God in the true sense, revealing that love is energy, above emotion. His wisdom was elevated, stretching mind and hearts inwards and upwards to the truth, even if this was uncomfortable or not believed by others. In his own words “Truth is, whether you like it or not, does not matter.” He was a spiritual warrior, fearless on the spiritual path, who loved truth more than popularity and God more than anything. Through my Master’s enduring example, I realized that all my fears about spiritual progress were desperate attempts by my lower self to fool me. The conquering of fear does not happen overnight, but we should start by realizing it’s useless, unless we use it as a spur to action. The path to self-mastery is strewn with rocks, in the form of fears, anxieties and personal problems that can trip us up at any time. The keys to your progress? Keep your spiritual goals uppermost in your mind, while dealing with the basic practicalities of life. Learn practical tools that can help you, such as prayer and healing. Apply these tools to help others, as well as yourself. By concentrating on the problems of others, you will put your own problems in perspective. Finally, just keep putting one foot in front of the other and never give up! If you do this, you will work through the fears and anxieties that beset us all, without letting them delay you on your all-important spiritual path.
