"Killer" Feng Shui Flying Stars

Cycles are an integral part of the order of the universe. For centuries on earth, the ancient philosophy of Feng Shui, pronounced “fung schway” continues to proclaim that everything – landscape, personal home furnishings, color – has an impact on us. And, so does the heavenly concept of Feng Shui called Flying Stars.

Longfellow calls stars the forget-me-nots of the angels. Peter Pan’s snail mail address is the second one to the right and straight on til morning. Of them, N P Willis writes, “There they stand, the innumerable stars, shining in order like a living hymn, written in light.”

Alas, there’s always one in every good, bad and ugly-crowd. This year, Feng Shui fans must make friends with crabby Three Killings, aka 3K, who will do their darnest to sour summer if you don’t keep a heads up. Of course, here, “Killings” is metaphoric, not literal. If it makes you feel better, just consider their energies like the Three Stooges spending summer vacation with you. Yoiks!

The energies of the Three Killings (called San Sha) are directional and they afflict from the four cardinal directions of north, south, east and west. If the areas affected by the 3K is a place frequently used such as a bedroom or the main door, use the following remedies to reduce and prevent bad stuff.

The Number 6 Heaven Star nests in the north sector – career concerns – of your home this year. Auspicious economic accents for ‘08 include wall-window coverings and other objects in shades of blue or black, navy. Emphasize wavy, curvy, meandering shapes and design. To repel any Three Killings craziness, helpful symbols include the moon, gentle rain, still water painting, smooth crystal doo-dads. Highlight objects made from glass, mirrors, tiny lights. Although it’s normally a Feng Shui no-no to have potted plants in the boudoir, 2008 invites you to let a small jade plant or other round-leaf flora to act as your personal 3K cop if 3K is sleeping in your bedroom.

Now that spring and sledge hammers are in the air, beware: 3K crises are said to befall those who do major renovations in the northern sector of the home floor plan. Here, the only exception is the planting of trees in northern sector of property. 3K Stars say to use this year to organize, plan rather than dig or destroy.

Also, it’s important to accent the excellent esoteric energies of the south: how others see you, your astro ascendant, what others say when they walk away from you. Here, triangular, pointy furniture (not aiming at head level) works best to halt hassles of the Five Yellow 3K star during ‘08. Decor to include in your southern floorplan include symbols of the phoenix, the (Third) eye; colors should include red, pink or purple – think twilight, glowing embers.

3K strongly suggests not sleeping in a southern room this year. If impossible, use above remedies, try to feature a small five-tiered pagoda icon or painting to avoid upsets. In the seasons ahead, pale pastel, no-pattern bed linens rule. Feng Shui also asks that you don’t listen to music or watch tv in southern rooms in ‘08. Don’t let the 3K creeps know you’re in there; keep it quiet as possible!

The east – concerned with sexual vigor, fertility, health, physical vitality, longevity – has a positive period with the Prosperity Star popping around this year. Rectangles, vertical shapes, especially ones in tones of jade or bright green, are super supplements against feeling poorly. Helpful healthy images to highlight in this area are dragons, eagles, hang gliders or images that suggest thunder, rolling clouds. If not a bedroom, musical instruments and paintings of trees, roots, flower blossoms get the green thumbs up.

The 3K Quarrelsome Star heads west (whom you consider family) and brings wild and wooly weirdness to homes that face west. In west-rooms, pictures of sheep grazing, people dancing, children playing or lovers holding hands is said to diminish heated arguments and increase harmony. Best colors here include lighter shades of red, metallic silvers and white. Fill front porch or western rooms with objects that are circular, oval for extra income. Round stools, circular metal fittings, knobs, wooden floors or wood-looking rugs strengthen this spot.

Use your imagination. Befriend yard and garage sales, visit local gardens. De-clutter your 3K areas and accentuate with color remedies and create your own! Make changes gradually, don’t be in a hurry or worry. Work with the stars.
