Star Gazing (Astrology)

FEBRUARY 2007

The major planetary contact this month occurs on the 20th – Saturn in Leo opposite Neptune in Aquarius. This relationship occurred on 8/31/06 and will repeat for the third time on 6/25/07. Saturn is the planet of responsibility, structure, management, security, control, career and consolidation. Leo is the sign of leadership, performance, creative self-expression and entrepreneurship. Neptune is the planet of the non-tangible. Its positive expressions are spirituality, creativity, inspiration, art, music and dance. Its negative expressions are disintegration, fuzzy boundaries, lack of focus, sacrifice, falling victim and escape. The opposition of two planets can create confrontation, a forced situation/action or the overpowering of one over the other. Leaders who should be strong may “waffle” or weaken. Decisions could be made based on image or ego rather than what is the right and humanitarian thing to do. Under these aspects leaders with integrity could do what is best globally. Stay tuned to see how this energy is handled. Since Saturn rules business, leaders and structure and Neptune rules oil and the sea, there could be new information regarding the oil status in the world, an oil spill, major repair to old oil pipes or a major flood. The Sun in Aquarius until the 18th supports political, humanitarian, technological, global, governmental, inventive, community and group issues. The Sun in Pisces after the 18th supports sensitivity, service, art, music, dance, dedicated professions, volunteering, escape, intuition, meditation, illusion, help for those in need, dreams and “going with the flow.”

Mercury (communication, writing, contracts, commerce, workers) in Aquarius until the 2nd supports communication within groups, with communities and governments and among friends. Mercury in Pisces from the 2nd to the 27th communicates with sensitivity, service, caring, need and creativity. It can also relate as “Cinderella” or a victim. Mercury turns retrograde on the 14th, Valentine’s Day. (You might want to wait until Easter to offer an engagement ring.) Between January 30th and February 14th is the “entry shadow” of the retrograde. During this time an issue will arise or a transitional situation will begin which relates to group, community or societal concerns as well as sensitivity, service, creativity or those in need. During the retrograde, from February 14th to March 8th, this issue can be worked on or a transition will be in process. The completion phase spans from March 8th to the 28th when agreements can be finalized, details confirmed and transition is completed. During a retrograde it is best not to make major purchases, agree to long-range or expensive plans of action or sign contracts. It is a good time to organize, catch up or review prior contacts.

Venus (values, money, social connections) in Pisces until the 21st encourages connecting with others thru volunteering, help for those in need, service and creative pursuits such as art, music and dance. In preparation for spring cleaning, this is a good time to give away items no longer in use. Venus in Aries after the 21st values taking care of yourself, reviewing your values and doing what you need to acknowledge and affirm a sense of self-esteem.

Mars (initiation, energy, aggression) in Capricorn until the 25th takes action supporting business, career, management, control, organization, security and corporation restructuring. Mars in Aquarius after the 25th supports humanitarian, community, group and political goals. Since most of February will be under the Mercury retrograde influence, attempts to move forward and take action could be blocked, frustrated or delayed until late March.

Jupiter (expansion, opportunity, optimism, travel, foreign trade, education, religion, legal matters) transits from 13 to 17 degrees Sagittarius where it will repeat in May, June and October. Jupiter will be in Sagittarius from November 2006 thru mid-December 2007. Jupiter in its own sign brings issues of and opportunity thru education, travel, foreign countries, politics, religion, trade, public relations and legal matters. Birthdays most affected by these degrees are December 6th-9th, June 4th-8th, September 6th-10th and March 4th-8th as well as companies or persons whose charts have planets or angles from 13 to 17 degrees Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo or Pisces.

Saturn (structure, foundation, responsibility) retrogrades from 22 to 20 degrees Leo where it was in September/October 2006 and will be in June 2007. Saturn has passed the middle degrees of Leo and has brought career changes and shifts in responsibility to many Leos in addition to restructuring in the house of the chart it rules or where planets in Leo are found. Leo relates to royalty, leadership, performing, entertainment, children and creative talents. During Saturn in Leo hobbies can be developed and turned into businesses. This month’s transit most directly affects those born August 13th-15th, February 9th-11th, November 12th-14th and May 11th-13th as well as those whose charts have planets or angles from 20 to 22 degrees Leo, Aquarius, Taurus and Scorpio. Saturn’s last transit thru Leo was 1975 to 1978. Review what was happening in your life about 30 years ago, during the half-cycle of 14-15 years (in Aquarius), the quarter cycle of 7 years (in Taurus) and 21 years, the third quarter cycle (in Scorpio) to understand what Saturn in Leo from July 2005 to September 2007 will mean for you.

Uranus (freedom, rebellion, surprise, invention technology) transits 12 to 14 degrees Pisces, repeating where it was in May, June, July and August of 2006. Most affected are birthdays of March 3rd-5th, September 5th-75h, December 5th-7th and June 3rd-5th as well as persons or companies whose charts have planets or angles from 12 to 14 degrees Pisces, Virgo, Gemini or Sagittarius. Between April 2006 and February 2007 they will need freedom, experience chaos or make radical changes. Uranus will be in Pisces until 2011 and supports social revolution. During 1920, the start of the previous Uranus thru Pisces, Congress granted women the right to vote. It was the “roaring 20’s.” Uranus in Pisces supports artistic creativity with innovation and intellect with sensitivity, leading to modern ways of helping those in need and suggesting that the only way that humanity will survive is by caring for each other and doing what is best for all, addressing humanitarian and global issues such as disaster relief and political decisions made for the good of the masses, not just special interests and the wealthy.

Neptune (sensitivity, inspiration, escapism, dreams, trust) transits 19 to 20 degrees Aquarius, where it was from April thru July and will repeat in the fall. Neptune relates to intangibles such as imagination, inspiration, art, dance and creative writing as well as prayer, healing, dreams and escapism. Birthdays most affected are February 9th, May 10th, August 12th-13th and November 11th-12th as well as charts with planets or angles from 19 to 20 degrees Leo, Taurus, Aquarius or Scorpio. During the retrograde of Neptune (May-October 2007) will be an excellent time to release addictive habits, attitudes or behaviors. Neptune transits bring a lack of focus or direction, a sense of drifting or the inability to see a disappointment, betrayal, error or weakness until it’s too late. It dissolves the past in order to make space for the future. On the positive side this can be a time for healing, faith, psychic insights and artistic creativity. Under Neptune in Aquarius you can develop intuition, musical talents, practice meditation and pay more attention to your own inner guidance. You may also need to watch your back and balance faith with fact to see events clearly, not with wishful thinking or being attached to the dream or vision of what you think might have been.

Pluto (power, control, resources, transformation) transits 28 degrees Sagittarius, where it will repeat in May, December and the fall of 2008. Most affected are birthdays around December 20th, June 19th-20th, March 18th-19th and September 21st as well as charts with planets or angles around 28 degrees Sagittarius, Gemini, Pisces and Virgo. Between February 2007 and the fall of 2008 they will experience major changes in life such as marriage, divorce, relocation and career/financial challenges. These are times in life when counseling or therapy could be required and self awareness/motivational work necessary. Now that Pluto has completed the 24th degree and is three-quarters of the way thru Sagittarius, it has brought focus, transformation and paradigm shifts in travel, education, travel, religion, politics and global trade.
