Be Still My Soul
Be still,
my soul, and let me dream upon our God,
For no appointed time, but far beyond,
As God has come to turn my darkness into light
And deliver me into radiance to end my night.
Be still,
my soul, and know what God would have me see,
For I seek answers to why and what made me to be.
But there is no sound and nothing to be heard;
I strain to hear, within the endless light, a word.
All
visions of imagined sin, evil, and warring might,
And conflicts… ceased… when from the vacant light…
From somewhere… everywhere… above,
I heard God softly whisper… “Love.”
The sound
reverberated far in colorful light,
While iridescent waves joined in playful flight,
And my soul was merged in endless love,
Which filled my eyeless sight.
Amidst the
loving echoes of God’s grace,
Worries of eternal boredom were erased,
And fantasies that seemed so real just yesterday
Were no longer in my way.
With love…
My soul…
There is nothing more to know.
And for the world at rest within my heart,
I sing within, “My God how wonderful Thou Art.”
