PhD, is a spiritual doctor of psychology who works with the angelic
realm. She is the author of Angel Therapy, Divine Guidance and Healing
with the Angels, among other works. Doreen has appeared on Oprah, The
View, CNN, Good Morning America and other programs.
phenomeNEWS: Doreen Virtue is one of
our really fun friends who is doing magnificent work holding the light
and telling us what’s up with the angels, our guides and with those from
other realms who are watching over us and taking good care of us these
days. We talked to Doreen about six months ago and it’s just a pleasure
to be in her presence again. She’s really delightful. She’s one of our
Ya-Ya Spiritual Sisterhood. We welcome back, Doreen Virtue
Doreen virtue:
It’s good to be talking with you again.
There are so many things going on on
the planet these days. People are experiencing lots of challenges and
more change than we’ve ever seen before. There seems to be lots of
despair and depression, people losing jobs and relationships. Those have
happened at all times, but it seems like it’s at an all-time high. What
do the angels or guides or your sources have to say about that?
Well, this is a time
of polarity and extreme experiences, where people are either
experiencing bliss or misery, prosperity or poverty and it’s because our
thoughts have become so attuned that they instantly manifest.
So what I’m finding
is that anyone who’s resisting following their integrity, doing what
they know they need to do, anyone who’s trying to stay in an unhealthy
situation, whether it’s work or relationships, without dealing with it
is experiencing these crumbling empires because it’s just no longer
feasible to lie to yourself and pretend everything’s okay when it’s not.
We really are
called, all of us, to live at our highest, healthiest level and that
means going into changes. It’s really a time of big change. If we can
get to the point where we can really trust our guidance and the constant
flow of support the universe always offers us, then it’s like surfing a
wave of bliss continuously. I’m not saying that like “pie in the sky”
idealism. I and many people I know are experiencing new heights of joy
that are just unparalleled and we want everyone to enjoy them. What it
requires is the surfboard to get up on the wave, really coming into that
place of faith and gratitude.
I did a reading on a
woman who’s having financial difficulties and a lot of life changes like
you were describing. What the angels showed me is that her fear about
lack of money had created this huge wall of energy that the universe’s
flow couldn’t penetrate. Again and again, the angels have told me that
our only enemy is fear.
What angels or guides could we call
on to give us some help with this?
I am counseling a
lot of folks to work with two feminine energies right now, one is the
archangel Ariel. Her name means “Lioness of God” in Hebrew and she is
associated with Mother Nature, with earth energies which is always the
energy you go to if you need to manifest supply for yourself. She’s
associated with fairies, nature spirits and also manifestation. So she’s
really helpful in reminding us all of what we already know and that’s
how to create physical supply out of thin air. We all have that magical
ability.
The other feminine
energy who’s really important to work with right now is Lakshmi. She’s a
beautiful Hindu deity who has long been known as the deity of abundance.
A lot of the deities have multiple tasks. Hers is pretty single-focused.
She brings money. A girlfriend of mine was having financial problems. I
told her about this and she went and got a Lakshmi picture. She just
downloaded it off the Internet. She put it in the abundance corner of
her home, which is always the back left corner from the front door and
within a week she received two huge checks, five-figure checks, that she
wasn’t expecting.
I hear these stories
again and again. What the angels say is if we try and do our business
single handedly, then we cut off our business partner, which is the
divine universal support – wisdom, supply and abundance, everything we
want in a great business partner. But if we insist on doing things solo
and think that we are our own source and that we have to strain and
struggle and figure things out, then the business partner can’t get
involved and help us.
So the best thing to do is call upon
the angel that fits the situation?
Right. Ariel and
Lakshmi are very helpful. The universe really responds to us. If you can
give something to make yourself happy, like go to a funny movie or tell
jokes, whatever it is to pull yourself up, you really will find that the
universe will respond to that very quickly. It’s the equivalent of
opening your heart and you’re in the flow that’s always there. You don’t
have to go searching for it. It’s always coming to you, it’s always
available, but we’re the ones who walk away from it.
Doreen, a friend had to have very
serious surgery. We called in all the angels and there was a tent of
angel wings formed across this person, coming over him and protecting
him. He came through so well, they can’t believe how fast his health has
turned around.
That’s a beautiful
gift that you gave him. Very powerful.
We’d never done it quite like that
before. The wings were luminescent like a tent over him.
That’s gorgeous.
Sometimes people think that they need some special skill and we don’t.
They’re a gift from our Creator.
I work with God and
I also work with Jesus and Holy Spirit and a lot of the traditional
Christian belief systems. What I know is that the angels are an
extension of God that are real, down to earth and kind of a more
tangible way for us to touch God. So we can call on them on behalf of
anyone, like with your ailing friend. We can call on them to protect our
children. A lot of my readers have insomnia. I’ve taught them to call on
the angels as they’re falling asleep and they begin to sleep like
babies, very secure. They’re very practical. That’s what I like about
angels.
The angels appeared instantly. There
was a great feeling of peace and that he was protected.
Actually that
ceiling of peace, that’s a lot of what Jesus taught us in the Gospels.
As you have faith it’s done to you. So that feeling of peace is exactly
what I’m talking about. That’s the same feeling that will bring us
everything we need.
That’s amazing. It was great to
remember to do that. It’s like your own cosmic “Get out of jail free”
card. Remember to use it!
We’re playing with your cards as
we’re talking, both the Goddess Guidance deck and the Angel deck and
picked Lakshmi and Artemis, who is the guardian according to the card.
“Your loved ones are safe and spiritually protected,” and that directly
relates to the earlier question about despair.
We should look at it
like it’s a scary movie, not real and not give it so much credence.
Sometimes with the media blitz
that’s going on out there about everything, it takes concentrated effort
to keep ourselves focused on the true stuff, the real stuff.
Yes. It’s best to
use media like phenomeNEWS instead of the traditional media. I
think that most people are aware that news is not necessary an accurate
representation of what’s going on in the physical world and we know it’s
not an accurate representation of the spiritual world.
Exactly. Is there any guidance or
message that you’re getting from the angels toward us as a planet?
Yes. What I’m
getting is that we are collectively remembering our purpose and our
inner presence. In practical terms, our healing abilities are being
reactivated. Most of us who haven’t even tried to put our hands on
someone are going to be surprised the next time we do, that we will find
that person says, “Oh, I feel so much better!” So we’re being
reactivated with a lot of spiritual gifts that were always inherent in
us and I believe we had in previous lifetimes, such as Atlantis. So
what’s going to happen is the healthcare system as we know it is not
going to be so necessary because we’re all going to be self-healing. We
had this ability, also, another time, around the Middle Ages, the 1300s,
1500s, 1700s and that’s when the witch hunts began because there was a
desire on behalf of the governments and the church to have all the
power. But now we have overcome the fears from that time and we’re ready
to take back our healing abilities and be our own healers.
And we hear of a lot more angel
visitations these days.
Yes. And more people
are ready to come out of the spiritual closet and talk about their
esoteric experiences. Have you noticed that? Mainstream people.
Isn’t that amazing? We love it. Is
that because our eyes are being unclouded or is that because the angels
are becoming sharper, clearer and more intense?
I think both. I also
think the work that you and I are doing, we’re giving permission to
people to talk about this. We’re normalizing this.
Right. There was a recent poll about
how many people do believe they have guardian angels and it was well
over the halfway point, about 78 percent or even higher. Inside of all
of us, we do believe there’s something or someone guiding us from
somewhere.
Oh, yes. It’s
interesting with that statistic, too, is that when I went through my
university psychology training, we were always taught that “normal” is
the statistical majority. So those statistics would show that it is
normal to believe in angels and that if you don’t believe in them,
you’re abnormal!
The part that’s not the norm!
Exactly.
Now how would someone go about
connecting with their angels and guardian angels?
When you’re stressed
you often can’t feel the angels when you need them the most and it’s one
of the reasons I created the oracle cards because it bypasses stress and
gives us clear answers. But you don’t even have to have a physical tool.
The best way to connect with your angels is, as you’re falling asleep,
to call on them to come into your dreams and either answer your question
or give you some sort of a healing. Then when you wake up, your may or
may not remember the visitation. It’s not so important to consciously
remember it, but what you will notice is that you’ve shifted during the
night and feel more comfortable, more confident. Every day we receive
letters from people who have physical healings that are just miraculous,
by calling on the divine. So when we’re asleep our ego is also asleep
and that’s why it’s easier for angels or deceased loved ones, God, the
ascended masters, whoever you want to talk to in heaven to come through
to us.
Do we have a certain troupe that’s
always with us and others who come and go?
Yes, exactly.
That’s interesting, because that’s
what spiritualism taught us years ago, that there’s a band of seven
energies around you that stay throughout your lifetime and others come
and go as needed.
I’d agree. I
wouldn’t want to put a number on it because I find it differs with each
person who I do a reading for. For instance, people who’ve had
near-death experiences have a steady band of more angels than I can
count that they’ve brought back with them. People who believe in angels
have the most angels of anyone. There’s an unlimited number of angels.
You can ask for 10 gazillion angels and they’re instantly assigned to
you.
They must be working overtime up
there!
Every time God has a
thought of love, a new angel is made, so you can imagine there is an
infinite supply.
Wow! Doreen, what angel can we call
on for physical health?
That would be
Rafael. His name in Hebrew means, “God heals” or “He who heals.” Rafael
has long been touted in Judeo-Christian texts as the angel who has
helped with all sorts of healings through history and continues to do
so. You can send Rafael to another person who’s ailing. Now, Rafael will
not usurp that person’s free will, but his presence has a healing
effect. Rafael can also help would-be healers. So if you want to be a
healer or if you are a healer, you can call on Rafael to guide your
healing work, including your schooling. And, by the way, Rafael is the
angel who pushes books off the shelf.
So that’s who’s been doing it around
here!
Rafael’s second
mission is that he is the angel of travelers. So people who are
traveling can call on Rafael to help with the luggage, the
transportation. He’s great if there’s any sort of turbulence, in
smoothing it out and just protecting you while you’re traveling.
That’s good to know. Thank you. How
about the one for selling a house? The seller hasn’t had anything on it
for six or seven months and they got St. Joseph.
That’s who I
recommend, St. Joseph and also Ariel. A lot of the work I do with
helping people to sell their houses has to do with calling on archangel
Michael to cut the cords of attachment that people have to the house. I
usually find that when someone’s house isn’t selling is that there’s a
part of them that really doesn’t want to let it go. And that’s true for
other objects, by the way, that you’re trying to sell. You have to
really almost do a ceremony and call on Michael to help you with this
and say, “I hereby release any attachment to this house.” And then
archangel Ariel… sometimes the spirits of the land around your house are
afraid of getting a new owner that might not honor them, so Ariel can
help you to keep the promise that you will attract a buyer who will take
good care of the rose garden and make sure to water the lawn and such.
There’s a lot involved with selling a house, more than meets the eye.
I did that with my
last house and it sold to a beautiful family. The man’s name was Merlin,
his real name!
They say you’re
supposed to dig (St. Joseph) up and put him in a place of honor in the
new house and my husband and I went all over the area where we buried
him and he was gone. We could not find him!
We hear so much about Mary
Magdalene. She stands for unconditional love. Now we have The God Code
and all these different movies and books out about Mary Magdalene. What
are your feelings about her?
Mary Magdalene is so
sweet and so soft that I can understand why Jesus would be with her. She
has got to be one of the most angelic women who lived on the earth that
I’ve ever come in contact with in the spirit world. She has absolutely
no anger, resentment or any unforgiveness in her soul toward the people
who have called her names which are untrue through the centuries. That’s
what she symbolizes. If you are in any way put down by another person,
she can help you to heal.
Very interesting. She’s there for
unconditional love.
Even beyond
forgiveness. She doesn’t even take it in at all. Very pure.
We’ve heard reports of circles of
light that are appearing on buildings in the daytime and patterns of
circles that appear seemingly out of nowhere. Do you know of this?
It’s the same energy
that does crop circles. But because there’s not a lot of crops in
America, they’re doing it on our equivalent which is buildings. These
are shapes to attune us, like Reiki symbols.
That’s interesting.
So they attune in
our consciousness. And also that beings from other dimensions are
letting us know that they’re here. It’s time now, there are enough of us
that are believing, like the hundredth monkey theory, that they are
becoming bolder and making their presence really known. That’s really
nothing to fear. There’s no apocalyptic thing going on. It’s not like
the Book of Revelations or anything that we’ve been raised to believe in
a fearful way. It’s all good news. The human race is evolving in a
positive way.
In your book about archangels and
ascended masters, you mention Maitreya. We’ve heard a lot about Maitreya.
Could you explain who he is and where he came from?
Maitreya is related
to the Buddhist tradition, often called Lord Maitreya and more commonly
known as Happy Buddha.
The laughing one?
Yes. So this is the
Buddha that will replace Siddhartha Buddha in, I believe, 1000 years.
Laughing works.
Yes. Buddha is a
series of different mortal men who’ve ascended, what we call ascended
masters, who have taken over for each other. Lord Maitreya is also known
as the Future Buddha. That’s another way to raise your energy, to have a
statue of Happy Buddha around and just by looking at his happy smile and
big Buddha belly, you can’t help but laugh. It raises your energy.
Maitreya is a little like a Santa Claus figure who would give candy to
children when he was living. He’s just about, “Don’t worry, be happy.”
That’s our Buddha! He’s for a sense
of humor, joy and lovingness.
I think we should
all get one.
Doreen, you communicate daily with
your guides and angels. You’re probably never out of touch with them.
I’m really
fortunate. I’ve set up my life so I can stay pretty much in a trance all
the time and my friends and family get who I am and I don’t have to
drive on freeways. It would not be safe to drive on a freeway in a
trance.
If you wanted to give someone a
simple, daily practice, some techniques that they can use, say in the
morning, to connect with their guides and angels, what would you
suggest?
Well, you have to
ask the angels for help with each thing you need help with. I
experimented with this years ago, when I would give my angels carte
blanche permission to help with whatever I needed help with during the
day. Some people come in and say, “God already knows what I need. I
don’t need to ask.” But this is a world created with free will and even
God can’t help us unless we give permission. So the best thing to do in
the morning is to ask the angels to give you reminders throughout the
day to talk to them. I really think this is what Paul was talking about,
praying without ceasing. We don’t have to say it out loud. We don’t have
to be formal. We just have to think the thought, “Help me.” Or feel the
thought, “Help me with this.” And it’s this team we have around us, like
this great basketball team, is the way I always look at it. You pass the
ball to the angels whenever you think the thought, “Help me.” And
they’ll pass the ball to whoever is closest to the basket. Why do
anything alone? They’re free of charge. They make house calls. They
don’t ask for anything except to be happy and prosperous and healthy and
all the good stuff of life. There’s no catches, in other words.
Right.
So why wouldn’t we
all talk to the angels all the time?
Exactly. Get your team together.
This is the best team.
And it’s assigned.
You don’t have to do anything to earn the team. It’s there.
You make this sound so easy.
It’s so easy. Oh,
believe me, I’m a Taurus. We don’t do anything that’s hard. We pretty
much like to laze through life. So angels are kind of a lazy girl’s way
to happy living. And it’s not that they’re taking away our sense of
responsibility or our sense of growth. I’m sugar coating it. They really
do ask us to do things that we may not feel ready for, like ask us to
change our diet to a healthier one or take better care of our bodies,
for instance. But they make it so harmonious and so palatable that you
don’t realize you’re working hard.
Last time we talked to you, you
talked about the goddess of clutter.
Jophiel, the Feng
Shui angel.
Yes and that helped.
She’s amazing. She
pushes you though.
The Salvation Army benefited when we
got going, because we got rid of two full dumpsters and a lot of stuff
went to the Salvation Army. There were a few things the angel of storage
let us keep.
Did you find that
things started to come to you after that?
Yes. A lot of new thoughts and ideas
and different kinds of things happened after that. Amazing things. The
flow of love was incredible after that. We were blessed with travel and
Cindy took a sabbatical after 27 years. It was fabulous.
You did find that the
more you gave, the more you got.
Oh, in spades. There was very much
of a blessing to following that guidance.

Tell us about your new book!
I have many. One
that I’m real excited about is Angel Photos. It’s a book filled with
photos people have taken and stories, where they were in a funk or
having a problem or praying and they saw an angel. Sometimes it was a
cloud, sometimes a mist. Two or three of the photos were actual angels,
where there is no other explanation. Two of the angels were at Christmas
time, two different photographers, where they said, “If you’re real, I
want you to show up on the film.” And there’s a cloud shaped figure with
details and it’s standing in front of the camera. It’s mind blowing.
That was really fun to work with.
Another one called
Angels 101, because a lot of people who are new to angels asked me for a
beginner’s book and I didn’t have one that wouldn’t scare someone who’s
new. This is real non-denominational, good for mainstream people, the
basics of angels. There are a few others.
Doreen, at the phenomeNEWs office,
we have three-quarters of one bookshelf filled with your books on
angels. We love them! We’re glad the angels keep on giving you new
material because it’s fabulous. It gives more information for us
left-brained folks who like to know who to call on next. We also love

Thank you! Doreen, what angels can
help you with writing?
There’s two. One is
the archangel Gabriel. Her name means “messenger of God” in Hebrew.
She’s the angel of messengers, so speakers, teachers, writers. And then
Ganesh, the elephant-headed Hindu deity, who is traditionally invoked
before writing anything. So the two of them together. Gabriel, if you
call on her to help you, tends to be kind of a nudging angel, I call
her. She pushes you, but can open doors, connect with kind of a literary
agent of sorts.
And then Ganesh removes the blocks.
Ganesh also removes
blocks, yes, like writer’s block.
Excellent.
Call on both of
them.
If you had a last bit of wisdom
you’d like to leave today, what would that be?
The angels say that
you can make any day blissful and meaningful by looking for as many
examples of love as you can possibly find. Kind of like “Where’s Waldo?”
You will find that there are so many examples of love, a mother cuddling
a baby, a stranger helping another stranger, a momma bird feeding a baby
bird; you’ll just find all these examples of love if you look for them.
The more you look for them, the more you experience them personally and
the universe loves a happy receiver. So by you noticing these gifts of
love, the universe is encouraged to give you more examples of love in
your own life. So make it a game you play with yourself to see how many
you can find each day. You’ll find the number keeps increasing.
