Being Psychic Is The Norm
by Deb Foggio
Everyone has intuition. Intuition is
defined (courtesy of Mr. Webster) as the power or faculty of attaining
to direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and
inference. In layman’s terms: having a thought or feeling about
something out of the blue with no factual basis for your feelings, only
to have whatever you were feeling or thinking happen. Here are some
simple examples that have happened to many of us. The phone rings and
you know who it is before you answer. You are driving, running late for
an appointment. The freeway is the fastest route but something in your
mind tells you don’t get on the freeway today. You listen and go through
the city. A few minutes later you hear on the radio that traffic on the
freeway is backed up bumper to bumper due to a water main break. You
call someone you are thinking of because you feel an urgent need to talk
to them. While speaking with them you discover they had been trying to
get in touch with you to share some important and vital news. All of
these are classic examples of our intuitive powers.
Your intuitive powers are the simplest
form and expression of psychic ability. And since we all have intuition
then it is safe to say we are all psychic. I can hear the denial sighs
of “argh” or “whatever” coming from some of you reading this but believe
it or not, manifesting psychic ability is not reserved to just a few
precious and unique individuals. It is a gift given to all human beings.
Let me explain.
There is a common thread that runs through
most religions. And that fact is the belief that we all have the truth
within us. There is a place where we can go to talk to God and discover
the truth of life and the truth for our own individual lives within us
all. We know this place is in our hearts. We always reference looking
within by putting our hands on our hearts. Our hearts are the symbol for
our heart mind, which is our connecting place to God or Divine Mind.
In Divine Mind are all the answers. Not
just to the most pressing questions about “why are we here?” But answers
to simple questions as well. It is the place where all knowledge of the
universe is stored. Knowledge about the everyday things we do in life.
Knowledge about the weather or about the day’s performance of the stock
market. Knowledge about things going on within our families. Or even
knowledge about what is going to be written in this article... You get
the picture. Whatever is going on in life no matter how great or how
small has roots in Divine Mind or God’s Mind. Now if we can access it
for the all-time life empowering questions, doesn’t it seem logical that
we could access it for everyday things? Well guess what, we are doing it
all the time when we experience our intuition. We are just in the right
frame of mind (heart mind) to let that information get through to our
conscious mind and then acknowledge it and experience it. Just because
we did not try to make it come forth... just because it came through
spontaneously does not invalidate the fact that it happened. It happens
all the time with everyone.
So now if it happens spontaneously... it
stands to reason that we can also make it happen by choosing to call it
forth. Like anything else you want to get good at, you have to study it,
understand it and then practice it. What puts us in touch with God or
Divine Mind, the source of all this information? Prayer for one thing.
Meditation for another. Or sometimes just gratitude felt through and
through. When we clear our mind of all the daily business at hand and
just experience the now moment in the silence, we hear God speak.
Sometimes it is something profound. Sometimes it is something universal.
Sometimes it is something about our lives that gives us guidance to help
us live fuller more wonderful lives. Sometimes we just tap into
Universal Mind and pick up bits of information about our environment,
our family, our friends, the future or insight about the past. These
things, these bits of information never come to us gratuitously. God
always has a reason for sharing with us. Sometimes we just don’t realize
why for a while. If we reflect on why, the answer will surely come.
However the biggest why is to show us that we are all connected to an
energy and intellect that runs through us all. We are all one.
Developing our psychic ability is more
about understanding life and being able to navigate through our
experiences and challenges with the sixth sense. God gave it to us to
use, so we could fully understand and respect all the things that happen
to us. Seeing the connectedness one event has to another gives us the
full picture so we can make the best decisions possible in our lives.
When our sixth sense kicks in sometimes all the facts have not yet been
revealed and we get a heads up to wait until all is fully revealed.
Sometimes it is just to confirm we are on the right or the wrong path.
Sometimes it is to save our lives. Sometimes it is just to confirm we
are loved and being watched over. Always it comes from the Source of All
Things for our divinely perfect good.
Because many of us only experience
intuition spontaneously for the most part, we have come to believe
falsely that we don’t have this ability. That we are not psychic. That
only a select few born somehow different can access this gift. But the
truth is our psychic ability is like a muscle that has not been used and
has wasted away. The more you work it, the stronger it becomes. The
stronger it becomes the more it can work for you.
So the next time your intuition kicks in
and gives you unexpected insight into something in your life, remember
it is a small way that Divine is reminding you of the sixth sense you
are blessed with. The sense that shows you are in constant contact with
the Divine. Learn to use it. You will marvel at how it improves the
quality of your life.
