Protection Stones

 So many people these days have become more and more aware of their aura, their energy fields and how their environment – both spiritual and physical – can affect their general well being. Many of you readers already know how to balance your chakras. Some of you have had Reiki and therapeutic touch treatments. Many more have enjoyed the healing benefits of massage. I have also used many of the techniques to raise my vibration and to increase my energy. Within the past few years, I have also begun using crystals and gemstones to enhance this process. Along with many of the other holistic ways to keep one’s self safe, protected and energetically aligned, I have used some wonderful gemstones that work for protection to boost energy and keep energy vampires at bay.

How many of us work with energy vampires each day? Those co-workers or friends who may not mean to drain the lifeblood from us, but can really take away from our energy fields.

Then there are many folks who may be in challenging situations or must deal with combative people. They may certainly need to protect their energy fields. When the body, the mind and the spirit are aligned, things tend to work out all right. But when our energy is depleted or taken from us or someone sends us negative thoughts, we can’t seem to function at our highest potential. Thoughts are energy too. Think a positive thought, it comes back to you. A negative thought? The same thing.

I have found that when I wear or carry certain stones; I feel energized, happy, ambitious and at times, very safe and protected.

There are many gemstones and crystals used for protective purposes by millions of people from various belief systems, religions and walks of life. For instance, I have read that the Native Americans strongly believe in the protective power of black tourmaline. Here is a sampling of some of the most popular stones I have found to be helpful in offering healing and protection:

Kyanite • This stone is one of two stones that never needs to be cleansed or cleared of negative energy. It is very powerful and carrying it, wearing it or meditating with it, helps draw your desires to you easily. Kyanite also helps calm you. Many wearers say that is helps with anger management. Some people use it to help clear an angry environment in their home or office. Place it in the center of your desk or room to help clear the energy of negative vibrations.

Black Onyx • This is also a stone that helps keep negative energy away from you. It can be used to deflect or absorb the negativity of others, So rather than your energy field absorbing another person’s negativity, the black onyx will absorb it and keep it away from you.

Black Tourmaline • This stone is used to repel and protect against negativity. It keeps one from being a victim. If anyone is sending you negative thoughts, it will stop them in their tracks. It is a special stone for the Native Americans who use it to dispel spells directed at them. It is said that at the same time, black tourmaline promotes positive energy to the wearer and increases their well being. This stone also protects from negative entities in the spirit world that may be haunting your house or trying to attach themselves to you.

Jet • This can be used to dispel fearful thoughts and protect the owners against violence. This mineral aligns with the base chakra and stimulates the waking of the kundalini.

Red Jasper • A strong protection gemstone, red jasper is known to protect against hazards of the night. Jasper is one of the oldest known gemstones. It is mentioned in the Bible several times. It is especially good to place in a child’s room who is afraid of the dark. For people who do not like being in a house at night by themselves, this stone will relieve fear. Red jasper is also said to help balance energy in the body.

Pyrite • This gold stone makes a wonderful energy shield, blocking out negativity from various sources. It energizes the area where you place it (such as on a desk where you work). Use this stone to overcome lethargy and fatigue.

I tell my clients the best way to gage if a gemstone will work for them and compliment their energy field is to see what they are most drawn too. I sell crystals and gems at expos and fairs and I often find a certain piece will sit for weeks until the “perfect” and rightful owner will claim it. Our body and our spirit knows what we need to heal and oftentimes someone will be immediately drawn to a specific stone and feel as if they “just have to have it.” Also, if the stone heats up in your hand or you feel energy from it, that is often an indication that specific stone or crystal will work for you. Some people say a person doesn’t choose the crystal, the crystal chooses you. Interesting, isn’t it?
