MAKING WAVES WITH FENG SHUI
Easy Autumnal Feng Shui
by Dennis Fairchild

Feng Shui (pronounced “fung schway”— the ancient Asian philosophy that incorporates eco-energy, color, astrology, folklore and more says that one’s surroundings impact me, you and yours has some goodies and homework for you to insure a positive and healthy end-of ‘06. ‘Tis a magical Ma Nature season of the year now and also time to get movin’ on what you want to have groovin’ in the months ahead.

• Make things “New”

Don’t wait until 2007’s Chinese New Year to dump and re-do what needs to be tended to or mended, do it now and before Thanksgiving! Scrub, paint and repair what is useable and good; discard/recycle worn clothing, furniture, appliances before winter holidays... call your local homeless shelters and share some of your ch’i (pronounced “chee”, meaning energy) with those less fortunate and in need. By doing so, everyone is blessed.

And don’t forget to oil-up all squeaky doors and hinges!

• Conscious Cleaning

Every nook and corner of the home should get attention and be given a thorough cleaning October 28-November 17ths retro Mercury dance. All dust, mess and clutter must be irradiated and removed now in order to prevent re-runs of the past 12 months of misfortune or setbacks.

This and next month are auspicious times to feature yellow golden fruits like Gala apples, peaches, lemons on the dining room table throughout the day. By doing so, it’s said to infuse one’s dwelling with dynamic, healthful energy. Think yellow as in “sunshine,” which midwesterners will soon be lacking as winter settles in.

In December and January, the colors of displayed fruit/foods shifts to green... like limes, avocadoes, Granny Smith apples. Think prosperity/green dollar bills and spring sprouts from plants.

• Debt-Collect

If you want extra income for fun holiday-spending, begin paying off and stand your center about collecting outstanding debts by the end of October. Audition lower monthly interest rates on credit cards, mortgages. Feng Shui says that by tweaking and monitoring your budget in October, the “gravy train” arrives in April.

As holidays are looming, ask gifters for a nice Jade Plant for your home office or dining room— it’s considered a money magnet for mega-millenniums! If you’re looking to give classy and creative Euro classical Feng Shui money-magnets, e-shop through www.worldoffengshui.com. A bit pricey and takes a few weeks to arrive, but the site will give you plenty of ideas of what Target or Pier One doesn’t know about!

• Home Decor & Accents

Red, the ever-popular color among the Chinese for representing passion, life and love, should be displayed in your home now though the end of January.

• Throughout October, open every door and window in your home at least once a day for a half-an-hour – even if it’s chilly outside – preferably before sundown. Feng Shui tradition believes that this will encourage you to move forward with fresh thoughts and positive momentum during winter – plus, your dwelling will smell a whole lot nicer!

• This and next month, every time that you visit friends or relatives, gift them with fresh, seasonal fruit (Ma Nature’s “money magnet”) like apples, red cabbage, cherries, pomegranetes – all which signify good health and opportunity. Offer them up for Halloween trick-or-treaters. (Maybe, some red licorice too?)

• Clean out your closet and buy at least one new outfit this and next month. Wear as many new, clean clothes that your budget permits at this time – preferably, red and gold tones. And put red long johns, copper and gold scarves on your Christmas want-list.

• Don’t borrow or lend money this and next month. Gosh, when you think about it, this is a good idea for every day of every year.

The Chinese Feng Shui calendar, also known as the Hsia (pronounced “see-ya”... neat, eh?), is a fascinating system which not only records the passage of time, but is also a tool for fortune-telling. As autumn unfolds, be like the squirrel and start hoarding extra cash and plan ahead.

• Feng Shui Astrology does not expect that autumn-winter brings a global war or higher gas prices... happy news, eh? Granted, there will be disharmony among country presidents, religions and cultures (as always), but the you-and-them situation should be generally more mellow around the end of the year. However, according to Feng Shui Flying Stars, Ma Nature may create some scary events between now and late November (especially in Asia).

• To get a galactic-grip on the months ahead, reflect back on the big deals that you faced during early 1998. What you’re likely to experience October through December this year may smell sorta like 1997’s autumn. Ring any bells for you? Meditate on Louise Hay’s affirmation: “I now free myself from destructive fears and doubts.” By doing so, you’ll thank your lucky stars.
