Coincidences
by Kathy Sinnett, RN, CHTP/I, CHN
I couldn’t wait to see it. They had been
running the promo for the program frequently. “The End of the Earth” A
special 20/20 presentation. When I forget to live in the present, I
wonder what’s coming up and what I’m supposed to be doing, where I’m
supposed to be and a long list of questions.
Like most folks, I pick up the Inquirer
and other such papers at the checkout when they shout that Nostradamus
says…
We’ve heard the Mayan calendar ends in the
year 2012. That’s not very long from now. The end of the earth is
coming! Does that mean we should run up our charge cards since they
won’t be able to collect?
I don’t know about that. I doubt it
because my understanding is that it is the end of the earth “as we know
it” that is approaching. Many will tell you quite eloquently what that
means. My understanding is that the vibration of the peace keepers will
move us to another dimension, while those who make other choices will
stay in the vibration of the chaos and darkness that will prevail in
this physical world.
Many of you may have noticed the change in
your own vibration and that of the planet. Your intuition is kicking in.
You know things. Friends and relatives are dying suddenly, long before
their time (as we view it) is up.
People seem to be more polarized. We read
about and experience kindness from some, while there seems to be a lot
of darkness in the world right now too. I wonder sometimes if that is
because we have such extensive news coverage.
The 20/20 show was part of ABC’s news
programming. Did you watch it? I tried. I couldn’t watch the whole
program. Could you?
It was really scary. They spoke and
simulated video of something – radiation? from space that would destroy
you, even if you were deep in the earth in a cement bunker. They spoke
of traveling black holes that suck you to another space. Initially it
feels good as you stretch out but soon the suction pulls off your feet
and then other body parts. Are you getting as freaked out as I was?
I mean, I can prepare an emergency back
pack with water, flashlight, cash, raingear etc. for natural calamities,
but what could one do to protect oneself and loved ones from such
destruction?
I don’t think you can. I don’t think it’s
up to you.
Have you heard that God has a plan? (Small
joke. I know you’ve heard that before.) But, do you believe it? How can
you tell?
Start paying attention. To what? The
coincidences in your life. They are really small miracles. They are
God’s way of showing you that S/He is watching out for you.
A simple day can be full of these miracles
when you pay attention.
Recently, my daughter Peggy and I made
plans to attend a free outdoor folk music day. Folk music is a joy to
me. People singing stories to the pluck of a guitar or banjo with a
fiddle thrown in for good measure. I haven’t had the pleasure while
confined this past year – to hospital, rehab and home – not jail. That’s
the good news.
Anyway, we awoke to an overcast rainy day.
Peg read the on-line listing “Rain or Shine, come and join us. We’ll
move inside.”
OK, we’re there.
By the time we finally left, it was
already noon.
Rather than missing music, our travel time
was everyone’s lunch break. Had we rushed and left early, as was our
original plan, we would have had two hours in the rain to wait.
We found gas at the best price we’ve seen
at a station we “happened” to find as construction forced us to take a
little detour.
When we arrived, there was a parking place
next to the building where they had moved one of the concerts. We went
in and sat down – right in front of friends we hadn’t seen for ages.
When we took a break for supper, we left a little before the rest of the
crowd and got a table without having to wait for 20 minutes.
The day just went on like that. Nothing
earth shattering. Just a lot of small miracles that are there when you
pay attention.
Well, Kathy, you say, I can’t tell you how
excited I am that you got a seat for the concert but what does that have
to do with the end of the world and what we’re supposed to do?
A lot.
Realize that there is a plan and all we
have to do is let it happen. Actually, we don’t have much choice.
However, being mortal, we do have fears.
As you notice the small miracles on a
daily basis it will be easier to accept the notion that you are part of
a larger plan and we just have to keep doing that a day at a time. You
know, left foot, right foot, left foot – breathe. Repeat. One of my
friends said that when she is having a bad day, she says to herself, I
can get through this next minute. And then again, I can get through this
minute. Could make it a long day, but it works.
I’ve never been one to follow “popular
celebrities” but the other day I was watching Montel Williams. He had a
psychic by the name of Sylvia Browne on the program. I guess she is a
regular. She seemed quite authentic. So, I went to the library and
checked out some of her tapes. She is quite the prolific writer. Funny
too. She has a very down to earth approach to metaphysics and how to get
help. I just listened to Angels and Spirit Guides.
Her advice when in need? Just ask. What a
concept! She has worked with her angels and guides since she was seven.
She says we all have them, just circling and protecting us, waiting to
help. But you need to ask. I know this isn’t new information, yet
sometimes we need to be reminded. For instance, if this whole discussion
on the end of the earth as we know it is depressing and affecting you,
ask your angels out loud, “Please lift this depression.” Yes, out loud.
Why not? You pray out loud and talk to yourself a lot.
And then start looking for miracles. Start
with pennies. Ask to find pennies. Really look at one. It says, “In God
We Trust.” Be reminded every time you find or notice one.
Pick up the book Small Miracles for Women:
Extraordinary Coincidences of Heart and Spirit by Halberstam & Leventhal.
It’s an easy, uplifting read with many, many good messages. Be sure to
read the short comments at the end of each story.
Oh. There’s a message for someone I was
“told” as I read the book. To paraphrase it, “Keep on going ahead, a
step at a time. There is someone waiting for you around the next corner.
Don’t stop now.” Do the words in this article speak to you? I wonder, is
it a coincidence that you’re reading this today?
