Calm
The Storms Of Your Life
by Aluna Michaels
As spiritual beings, our
true nature is serenity and peace. Why is it that so often we are
plagued with frantic thoughts or frustration and anxiety? Unfortunately,
no matter how spiritually centered we are, we still have to exist in the
third dimensional, mundane world.
It is easy to get discouraged when we are spiritually aware people. No
matter how much we meditate, we still get irritated in traffic. We
visualize healing for a loved one and they suffer regardless. We bless
our communities with affirmations of love, yet violence and crime
continue. What we need to remember is that each time we contact the
place of peace within our soul, we are blessing the world and we are
making a difference.
Our third dimensional life
is a land of opposites – happy/sad; good/evil; rich/poor; healthy/sick.
Those opposites create a dynamic tension. Just living in the world is a
challenging experience. If we’re happy, we could be miserable at any
moment. If we’re lacking funds, a financial windfall could be around the
corner. Our reality is insecure, unpredictable and constantly chaotic –
even improvements can feel stressful. For example, being in a great
relationship at long last can be fulfilling, but it can also be
uncomfortable as we wonder if it’s too good to be true. Likewise, we can
stay in bad relationships since the idea of changing to a more positive
one is also threatening. It appears the mystics and gurus are right –
due to its constant fluctuations, there is no peace in the material
world.
However, peace does exist
on the fourth dimensional spiritual realm. This unruffled part of our
consciousness is beyond opposites, beyond chaos, beyond fear. We all
have that serene land within us, we merely have to reach out for it.
Focusing exercises such as yoga and meditation will bring us to that
centered place.
It helps to think of our
minds and lives as a hurricane. We’re a mass of swirling thoughts and
spinning events. But at the center of it all is the calm eye of the
storm. This is the “eye” of spiritual vision. When we center ourselves
through breathing, chanting, yoga or other techniques, we can make good
decisions for our lives since we see everything clearly. We are not
looking through eyes of fear, judgment or limitation. Instead, we see
the greater picture and how we can act in the best interest of our soul
and not in the best interest of our chaotic personality. This balanced
place will also help us see the best interests of everyone involved.
Our job as spiritual
seekers and light workers is to bring some of that fourth dimensional
bliss to the other areas of our lives. It is certainly a challenge to
move back out into the whirlwind of daily living with our spiritual
directives intact. With practice, we become more courageous and
effective at implementing our intuitive solutions. From our
soul-centered outlook we can serve others who are unable access their
center for one reason or another. We can say the perfect thing to a
frazzled friend. We can drive upon the scene of a fender-bender and
offer practical guidance. Maybe a smile at a stranger will shift their
mood and heal their day.
We will also notice that
the more we meditate and contact our center, the wider the “eye of our
hurricane” becomes. Peace will be easier to achieve and sustain. Also,
the “winds of our lives” will get weaker and life will be more enjoyable
and less puzzling. We will begin to radiate a contented joy that soothes
all whom we come in contact.
Our true spiritual nature
is to be like a cool breeze, soothing the feisty and nervous
temperaments of others around us. When we’re spiritual masters, we’ll be
like that all the time. But for now, we might have a few days like that
or just a couple of hours. Those periods of peace matter. They not only
benefit to our individual souls, but they also heal the world in
general.
